[edit] Summary
The Holy Templars of Bacon or The Holy Order of Bacon was an order of Knights formed to protect and serve the Church of Bacon at home and in foreign lands, much like the christian crusading orders based in the Holy Land, and one of the most renowned warriors of baconsim during the Medieval era. During 1149 D.B (Delicious Bacon), Baconism was beset on all sides by heretics and pagans, especially those of the infamous Church of Bagel. During this time, Bacite lands were in inner turmoil as lords and vassals feuded for power. The high priest of Bacon (or Bacope) at the time, Bacope Montgomery Clovis, deemed it necessary to form a religous order of knights to combat this growing threat.
During 1165-1168 D.B, the order was disbanded by the Bacope after a member gone traitor revealed all their strategic holdings in the region. Many attempts were made shortly after (1169-1172) to refound the order, but failed due to a sinking economy and lack of membership.

[edit] The Modern Order
In recent times, the history of the order has gained newfound interest, and has even been reinstated by the Church of Bacon. It now has its own clergy and membership base. It is dedicated to preserving the History of Bacon and keeping corruption out of the Church. It also has heavy emphasis on old traditions such as swordplay and weapon craftsmanship (especially dealing with engravings of baconic symbols, seen as a boon in combat of old). It has undergone several trials of Controversy and Bias by bacites in the beginning, but has steadily become an almost integral part of the church.
